Dawn of Tears began at the end of 1999 when guitarist J.L. Trebol decided to start a metal band driven with ambition and attitude and that would be mainly influenced by all modern Dark Metal styles and late 80's and 90's classic Heavy Metal.

The band did not become a reality until mid 2001 , with the addition of versatile singer J.Alonso. Dawn of Tears was born. That year , the band recorded their first demo , titled "Blood on Verona" , which in turn never came to see the light of day. Nonetheless,they began as a proper band and during the following year they played a series of shows in the underground Madrid zone.

In 2003, Dawn of Tears entered the Emergenza competition and finished in 2nd place with J.L. Trebol receiving Best Guitarist Award. This brought them to Paris and they shared thestage with winning european bands from other cities.
The following year their second demo "Echoes ...." was released; It received brilliant reviews and led Dawn of Tears to appear on several compilations , such as "Metal Ostentation vol. 8" and "Emisión Pirata" demo compilation.

After quite a long period of uncertainty and lineup changes, the band decided to enter the studio to record their first LP; but recording was delayed due to the drummers long period of illness and then also with the unexpected death of the studio producer.

It wasn’t untill 2007 that "Descent" finally saw the light , and was nominated in Metal Storm awards as best melodic death record of the same year, in the same category as other bands like Dark Tranquility and Arch Enemy. Several very good reviews later, both from the public and specialized press have led the band to share stage with first rate bands such as Dimmu Borgir, Charon, Dew Scented and Stravaganzza.

Right now the band,with a renewed lineup and is working on a European promotional campaign for their newest effort, "Dark Chamber Litanies".They are recording their 2nd album in autumn 2009.
